The story of Laura Chavin begins with Helmut Bührle, a distinguished Swabian grand seigneur and visionary in the world of tobacco. Even during his studies in marketing and design, Bührle immersed himself in his family's tobacco enterprise, dealing in the finest raw leaves. Upon completing his education, he honed his aesthetic sensibilities working with iconic maisons such as Hermès, Enrico Coveri, Christian Dior, and Zino Davidoff. By 1992, inspired by a relentless pursuit of excellence, Bührle embarked on creating his own premium cigar brand, naming it with love and pride after his daughter — Laura Chavin.

Crafted in the Dominican Republic, the first cigars bearing the Laura Chavin name were unveiled to the world at the prestigious Intertabac in Dortmund in 1998. Willi Knopf
In 2017, visionary entrepreneur Willi Knopf, renowned for his achievements in the creative and marketing industries, took ownership of Laura Chavin Cigar Company. This marked the beginning of a new era, with the establishment of a dedicated tobacco and cigar production facility near Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic.
